Scientific TV center: Materials Science

THE LAW OF RECIPROCAL CONVERSION OF QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE CHANGES

In this film you will see the quantitative and qualitative properties of different materials. You will learn the concept of quantity and quality of materials, you wll see the difference between those categories and the dependence of the quantity from the quality.

CONSTRACTIVE POLYMERIC COMPOSITE MATERIALS

The modern level of technologies’ development calls for invention of new materials obtaining new properties. In this film you can see the advantages of constructive polymeric composite materials, their usage, attempts to manufacture those materials and their composition.

MATERIAL FATIGUE

The film shows in detail the process of materials failure as a result of their “fatigue”. The basic criteria of hardness are deduced. This film is also about the reasons and properties of materials’ aging treatment, the ways to control this process. You will learn the ways to test materials’ aging treatment and the methods of materials’ research at the molecular level.

MATHERIALS TEST METHODS FOR STRENGTH

The film demonstrates the operational strength tests for different materials. The tests of the particular materials’ properties by means of the correspondent methods are also shown in this video. You will learn of the theoretical foundations of those tests and their intended purpose.

POLYMORPHIC TRANSFORMATION OF METALS

This video is about the polymorphism effect. Here are the examples and here is told of the properties of such transformations. More attention is paid to the polymorphic transformations of metals and to its’ properties. Here you will see the nature of polymorphism.

RECRYSTALLIZING OF METALLS

Here is told about the structure of the metals’ crystals; the properties of the metals with different structures and the practical usage of those knowledge.

CONSTRUCTIONS’ ANALYSIS BY TAKING INTO ACCOUNT PASTE FORMING PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS

The film shows how to use the particular laws of mechanics in practice. This film is also about the elasticity and the plasticity of different materials; the methods to measure those properties and the intention of their measurements.

ELECTROSLAG TECHNOLOGY

This video shows how to get the high quality metal and how to weld a construction by means of the slag tank warms during the passage of an electric currant through it. Here is also told about where and how this technology is used in practice.

GREY, MALLEABLE AND HIGH-STRENGTH CAST IRONS

The film is about the structure of cast irons and the dependence of their properties on a particular structure. Here are the methods to influence the structure of a cast iron during pouring.

Scientific TV center: Geometry

Geometry and topology. Topology is a science of geometric properties saved during the constant deformation of a figure. The film is particularly about homeomorphism, unexpressed critical points, the topological Morse theory.

Descriptive geometry: alterations of projection planes

Here is told about the transformation of a projection drawing; in particular, of methods of projection plane alterations, methods of finding the actual size of a segment and the natural distance from the point to the right line. Graphical schemes will be shown and the basic design principles will be demonstrated.

Descriptive geometry: intersection of plane shapes’ surfaces

Here described a plotting of intersection of two cylindrical surfaces, cone and prism, two oblique cones, oblique cylinder, oblique cylinder and cone. The usage of the method of concentric intersected spheres and the method of eccentric intersected spheres are demonstrated.

Descriptive geometry: method of rotation

The film is about one of the methods of descriptive geometry – the method of rotation. In particular, about the rotation around projective lines, the rotation of point around line.

One-side and two-side surfaces

A surface could be imagined as a complex of lines. You will learn the difference between the real surface and their geometrical idealization, the design of different figures and the necessity to distinguish figures’ sides one from another.

The basics of volume-extensional composition

The film turns to conformity of volume-extensional forms’ designing in architecture. It is shown in detail the geometrical species of a form, its’ value, mass in architecture, finish, light and shade, space position, dynamics and rhythm.
